Inauguration of ‘Trauma Centre’ in the new multi-storey OPD block of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital

The Chief Minister of the state, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, inaugurated the ‘Trauma Centre’ in the new multi-storey OPD block of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) with a cost of Rs. 30.90 crores. The new OPD block is expected to provide better medical care to patients and reduce congestion due to the heavy rush of patients in the OPDs. The block will include a Physiotherapy ward, Special wards, Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Isolation ward, Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan, X-ray, Sample Collection Centre and Pathology lab facilities.

State-of-the-art Medical Services with 5-G Technology in Health Institutions

The Chief Minister announced that 5-G technology will be included in these health institutions to provide state-of-the-art medical services. The government is committed to fortifying the health infrastructure and setting up separate departments to strengthen emergency medical treatment in all medical colleges of the state. The state government will soon start Robotic Surgery facilities in each medical college in the state to provide the world’s best health facilities to the people.

Modern and Hi-Tech Hospitals in Each Medical Block

The government will set up modern technology-rich and hi-tech hospitals in each medical block to provide excellent health facilities near their homes. One nurse will attend to six beds and one doctor will attend to ten beds with patients. Specialist doctors and paramedical staff will attend to one bed each in the ICU.

Interactions with Patients and Hospital Staff

During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with the patients, and hospital staff, and inspected the new OPD block. The staff and Principal of IGMC welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were MLA, Harish Janaratha, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anirudh Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sanjay Awasthi, Secretary Health, M. Sudha Devi, OSD to Chief Minister, Gopal Sharma, Principal of IGMC, Dr Sita Thakur, and Medical Superintendent, Dr Rahul Rao.
