Hamirpur   –

Hamirpur is a small district in Himalayan state Himachal Pradesh of country India. Hamirpur is basically located in western part of State. The geographical coordinates of Hamirpur is 31` 25’ to 31`58’ north and 76`18’ to 76`44 East. It is located at the elevation of 786 m above sea level. The boundaries of this district touch the boundaries of Mandi district from Northwest, Una from west and southwest, Kangra form North and Bilaspur from south. This city is being overlook from the far northern high altitude Dhauladhar ranges. Hamirpur is one the most rapidly developing district in Himachal Pradesh. This district shown a very marvelous development in every sector with new Entrepreneurship and modern construction. This district is well known in state for its Quality education and Best educational institutions. It is also major junction point on National Highway 3 while here 103 National Highway starts. As we have said it is famous for its education so here the literacy rate is also high as compare to other states in Himachal. There are many big Institutions such as NIT Hamirpur, state universities and Skill Learning centers. There is a very famous traditional festival named Hamir Utsav, this festival is very famous in Himachal Pradesh. This state is spread over from Jhaniari to Bhota along with NH 3 and NH 103. Main Hamirpur is the prominent commercial center for the Hamirpur district. Hamirpur has very good Infrastructure.  Hamirpur is surrounded by Pine tree forests.

 And one more thing Hamirpur is the smallest district of Himachal Pradesh.

The temperature in this district is short warm in summer, during the time period of late April to June its temperature reaches up to 40 degree Celsius and this district also have cool winter during winter it’s temperature sometime may go down to -2-degree celsius. winter starts from mid-October. there monsoon came in late June and last there till early September and fair amount of rainfall occur there.

Mountain Ranges –

In Hamirpur there are basically 3 main ranges that are named as – Jakh Dhar, Chabutra Dhar and Solahsingi Dhar. Jakh Dhar enter in Hamirpur from Nadaun. Hamirpur is situated on the east of Jakh Dhar. Solahsingi Dhar is longest Dhar in Hamirpur. This Solahsingi Dhar is also known as Chintpurni and Jaswan Dhar in Una.

Rivers –

Beas river in north make Hamirpur boundary with Kangra.

Maan Khad in west part, Kunaah Khad in southwest part Baker Khad in east part merge in Beas river. Sukar Khad and Mundkher Khad merge in Sheer Khad and Sheer Khad finally merge in Satluj river. Sukar Khad make Hamirpur Boundary with Bilaspur, Baker and Sheer Khad make its boundary with Mandi District.

Climate –

The type of climate of Hamirpur is Hilly and Chilly. In most of the region of Himachal Pradesh this type of climate is found. The temperature in this district is short warm in summer, during the time period of late April to June its temperature reaches up to 40 degree Celsius and this district also have cool winter during winter it’s temperature sometime may go down to -2-degree celsius. winter starts from mid-October. there monsoon came in late June and last there till early September and fair amount of rainfall occur there. Usually in this district there is no snowfall but in January, 2012 and February 2019 a moderate amount of snow fall was recorded

Miscellaneous

There is a temple of Baba Balaknath in Diyotsiddh.  The Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board (presently HPSSC) is located in the fortifications of Hamirpur.  There is a Navodaya School in Dungri of Bhoranj.  There is an All India Radio Center at Pakpadora in Hamirpur.  Sheep breeding center is located in Taal.  Jaladi has a milk harvesting center.  NIT is located in Hamirpur.  Gamsota fair, Piplu fair, Sair fair are held in Hamirpur.

Temples –

There is a temple of Baba Balaknath in Diyotsiddh. This temple is the biggest holy Memorial in Hamirpur district (Barsar tehsil). It is basically situated in the Diyotsiddh Dhar Range in Shivalik Hills. This temple is 16 KM from Barsar and 5 KM away from Shah Talai. There also one more most famous temple named Gasoteshwar Mahadev temple Which was made by Pandavas in ancient time this is basically situated in Gasota, and this place is approximately 7 KM away from Main Hamirpur.

 NIT Hamirpur –

 In Himachal Pradesh there is also a National Institute of Technology which is most famous in Himachal Pradesh and is also known as NIT Hamirpur or NITH. This Institute is established in 1986. This institute is mainly located in Hamirpur ,Himachal Pradesh .  It is a Public technical university . This Institute is one of the thirty one NIT , ehich is established, admistered and funded by MHRD.

Here this Institute provide many Undergraduate , Postgraduate and Doctorate  studies in various fields .
