Central Government Refuses to Return Pension Scheme Funds

The Government of India has refused to return crores of rupees under the New Pension System to states which have implemented the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that the state governments should announce the restoration of old pensions (OPS) on the basis of their finances, and the states doing so will have to make financial arrangements for implementing OPS at their own level.
